1st good storm of the season?

Post by CRZ »

Forecast Updated at 3:56 PM Saturday

***A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Monday morning through Tuesday for Ashland, Florence, Forest, Gogebic, Iron (WI), Iron (MI), Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Ontonagon, Portage, Price, Taylor, Vilas, and Wood Counties. Most of the heaviest snowfall looks like it will fall between Monday afternoon and evening with some spots picking more than a foot of snow by Tuesday morning.***

We're really starting to fall back into the winter pattern again, with a large trough of cold air getting ready to settle overhead. This will is also leading to an unsettled weather pattern, with the jet stream providing favorable growth for alberta clippers. We saw one last night that gave us a rain and snow mix and we'll get a break this afternoon, before more snow arrive tonight around 10 pm. This will give most of Northern and Central Wisconsin about 1 to 2 inches of snowfall by early tomorrow afternoon.

The big headlines in the weather department will come from the winter storm that will develop for Monday. This system will have more moisture to work with than the past few snowfall events this year. Models had recently been showing the snowfall staying to our south, but most are now starting to come into agreement that this will impact Central Wisconsin and the Northwoods. It's still slightly too early to indicate who will see the most amount of snow, but it looks like this could be the first snowfall where we get a foot or more of accumulation. Check back often for the latest details!

Stay Warm!
